Welcome to your initiatives! We have created initiatives to help you and your team reach your reduction targets. You can read more about setting your reduction targets here

There are two types of initiatives: Reduction and Measurement. In this article we will be covering reduction initiatives.

About Reduction Initiatives

Reduction initiatives are broken down into 2 steps:

  1. Planning
    1. Forecasting
    2. Business Plan
    3. Funding
  2. Recommended Actions

1. Planning

Within the planning step our goal is for you to be able to plan around the impact of your initiative. Impact can be measured by the emissions reduced, the total cost, and the technical effort. Each initiative has it's own unique recommended actions, and you can create your own custom actions to fit your needs more specifically. You can read more about custom actions here.

a. Forecasting

Planning has 3 sub steps, in the forecasting step your goal is to select the sources in your app that will be impacted by this reduction target, and set your baseline & goal

  • Select your impacted sources
    • For this step you're going to want to do a data audit and ensure that your data is complete for the selected sources
  • Set your baseline & goal
    • Your baseline is the year you want to measure against in terms of your reductions, it can be any year you choose but has to be in the past. We recommend it is your current year so you can accurately measure your reductions, but if you are account for an initiative that is already underway you can set it to be historical.
    • Setting your goal reduction is what percentage you hope to reduce your total emissions for the selected sources.

b. Business Plan

Within the Business Plan step you will want to ensure that the feasibility of your project has been properly assessed. During this step you will want to understand the total cost, get financial approval from your stakeholders, and asses if you need any technical support from our list of vetted vendors.

c. Funding

The goal of the funding step is for you to have access to all of the available grants and financing. We have created a comprehensive list of grants that are available for larger reduction projects, you can browse through and apply to the ones that make the most sense for your project.

2. Recommended Actions

You can think of this section as your guide once you are actually implementing your project. In here we will attach recommended resources that have been helpful to our users, and recommended steps for implementing your project. This is also a great point for you to start utilizing the custom actions and delegating tasks to the rest of your team that you can manage in the Action Overview
