Setting my Targets

Your targets are your company's commitment to reducing your carbon footprint. There are two different types of targets: Absolute and Intensity. You can read more about the difference here. We recommend using Absolute targets as they are real commitments to reduce your footprint. However we have included the ability to set Intensity targets that will scale with your team as you grow.

Targets can be set through the Office Based Business Onboarding Trail.

Setting your Baseline Year

Targets require a baseline year which will be the year your targets start from. You can edit this baseline however we don't recommend it as it will reset your entire target strategy and all of your targets will need to be set again from the new baseline year.

Setting Absolute Targets

  • Select "Absolute" as your target type
  • Select your Target Year
  • Enter what percentage you would like your target to be reduced by annually.
  • Click Next

Setting Intensity Targets

  • Select "Intensity" as your target type
  • Select your Target Year
  • Select either "Total Employees" or "Total Revenue" or "Custom" (For tips on setting custom targets read here)
  • Enter the monthly data of your baseline year and any additional years you have data for (only baseline is required here)
  • Enter what percentage you would like your target to be reduced by annually.
  • Click Next

Committing to your Targets

Committing to your targets confirms that you agree to the reductions you've set, and as a team commit to meeting those target reductions. You can edit your targets though we do not recommend it, but you will have to make sure you commit to those targets again.

Our Target Philosophy

We have based our targets module and target recommendations off of the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) Manual. SBTi is recognized as the best because they are science-based, transparent, and independently verified, providing a rigorous and credible approach to setting and achieving emissions reduction targets. You can read more about it on the SBTi website
