Summary

Sources are all of the items that create emissions in your company. These could be anything from your Fleet Vehicles to a Boiler. Creating custom sources allows you to capture all the unique data you might have.

Creating a Custom Source

Within your Sources page you will be able to see a table of all of your existing locations and sources. To create a new source ensure you are on the sources tab and select "Create New".

  • Add your source name
    • Make sure you name your source something that is clear and indicates what type of source it is, as this is how your source will appear in searches and everywhere throughout the app
  • Indicate if data items for this source has a date range
    • Some usage items occur over a period of time, i.e a monthly utility bill, whereas discrete purchases, such as a flight, require a single date.
  • Indicate if you have operational control
    • If you have operational control it means you have the full authority to implement operating policies.

Examples of this would be sources that your company owns (company fleets, planes, delivery cars, offices, etc)

  • Indicate if there will be monthly data inputs for this source

    • Some sources require monthly inputs, for example: Monthly Energy Bills. If you would like reminders to enter that data monthly select Yes.

  • Indicate if this source is currently active

    • If this is a historical source click no, if you are actively using this source indicate yes

  • Add the date this source became active

  • If you indicated that is not currently active then add the end date

  • Select the GHG Category

    • Learn more about each GHG Category and how to report on them

  • If this source belongs to a location you can indicate that here or add a new location.

  • Clicking next will take you to the Emission Factor selection screen

  • Select the emission factor you want these emissions to be based off of

  • Click Next

  • Done! You can now view your source in the list of active sources

  • If you have created a historical source that is now inactive you can view it in the Inactive tab on the sources table.
